In February 2020 four Orillia Athletes attended Nationals in Thunderbay. Dennis Chamberland, Evan Pittam and Lynda Larkin competed in Bowling. Stephen Graham competed in Speed Skating. All the athletes came home with medals. In March we were getting ready to celebrate at a big party to honour each athlete with family, board members and friends. Unfortunately COVID 19 hit and all Special Olympic Activities were cancelled Province Wide. It saddened all of us not to be able to celebrate their wins. Certificates honouring their success were prepared by Jill Dunlop our local MPP and Mayor Steve Clarke. Community Coordinator attended each of the athletes homes and delivered their certificates personally. We would have loved to have the big celebration but at least they received their certificates.
