Information Regarding Return to Play
August 19, 2021
Hello Everyone. It's been a long time posting any news. We have been on hold for some time now. With all the recent changes happening with Covid and the ability to start up some programs, we thought we would provide an update.
We are working towards starting some programs up this fall but do not have any concrete plans as of yet. We did start a Welcome Back - Orillia Fitness Club that started on Tuesday August 17th at Kitchener Park. In this program there are 4 - 5 stations set up with a coach at each station. We had Zumba, soccer, agility, hula hoops and mini fitness. At the end of the session all the athletes and coaches performed what they learned in Zumba for the parents/guardians. There were water balloons and freezies after. Ten athletes attended and had some fun. We are hoping more will attend as we continue every Tuesday until September 21st. If anyone is interested in joining us show up at Kitchener Park Tuesday at 6 pm. Starting on September 7th we will be moving to Rotary Field - Artificial Turf. The Program is free of charge. If you have any questions please contact Cathy O'Connor at 705-238-7277.
There will be a meeting held with Orillia Bowl on August 24th to determine if we can offer a bowling program this fall/winter. More news to follow....
We will be starting the swimming program after Thanksgiving but it is limited to 8 athletes as there is only 8 lanes and each athlete has to have their own lane. It will consist of the 8 athletes who joined in October 2020 before we were cancelled for the season.
As it stands now we are unsure if we can start up basketball and floor hockey. We are waiting to see if School Board will be offering this option. Check back for any updates. We will know more in the next few weeks.
Your Community Council is working hard to get some activities started. Thank you for your patience and hopefully there will be good news soon.
